Engage With Patients, Not Paper
By Ed Miseta, Chief Editor, Clinical Leader
Cell phone technology has come a long way in the last 10 years. Functions that you could not do on your computer years ago can now be done from the palm of your hand. But when it comes to documenting the results of clinical trials, are you still using decades old technologies?
Michael Smyth, general manager of TransPerfect Life Sciences Solutions, discusses the new technologies available to manage the volumes of paper piling up in binders at clinical sites, and the inherent inefficiencies surrounding the managing of paper documents. Taking into account eTMFs, eCTD, and CTMS, he notes pain points in clinical research noted in user surveys, and highlights a myriad of distractions facing site personnel.
Smyth believes a global perspective and a greater focus on engaging with patients, rather than paper, is the way to solve the problem.
