Clinical trials are evolving. The cost, along with issues surrounding patient recruitment and retention, are forcing many sponsors and CROs to rethink the conduct of trials. One innovation that will certainly have an impact will be mobile health technologies.

Mobile technologies seem to be taking over the world. I recently read that phones and tablets now account for half of all consumer electronics spending, and the display industry sells a square foot of glass each year for every adult on the planet. With that type of growth, one even has to wonder how much longer the desktop PC will survive. With that growth, it seems those involved in the conduct of clinical trials are finally starting to take note.
