NJ's Atlantic Health System Announces Clinical Trials Website

By Marcus Johnson

Researchers, doctors, and patients who are interested in learning more about clinical trials available in New Jersey will now have more information available to them. The Atlantic Health System, which includes medical centers in Morristown, Overlook, Chilton, and Newton, has announced a website with the purpose of providing information about clinical trials that are open and enrolling at member medical centers. Eric Whitman, the medical director of the Atlantic Center for Research, Carol G. Simon Cancer Centers, and the Atlantic Melanoma Center, released a statement about the new website. “We want to create a platform that helps both patients and doctors identify available clinical trial options at our hospitals,” Whitman said. “We're proud of our clinical research programs, and this website will help our physicians and the communities we serve take full advantage of everything we have to offer.”

The website aims to reach as many patients as possible, and it is also tablet and smartphone friendly, allowing visitors to follow openings on the go. Researchers, doctors, and patients can also filter open and enrolling trials based on keywords, disease area, and the lead physician. Jan Schwarz-Miller, MD Chief Medical Officer, Chief Research Officer and Chief Academic Officer, Atlantic Health System, also commented on the new website. “Atlantic Health System is expanding geographically and in the types of services we offer. We recognize our role as the leading health care provider in the region, and part of this responsibility is remaining committed to offering our patients and communities the most advanced-treatment and diagnostic options,” she said.

The Atlantic Health System hopes that access to information about clinical trials can help patients and doctors come up with new diagnostic solutions for health problems. Clinical researchers will also get access to a greater pool of patients, which will help studies’ enrollment numbers.
