The State Of SharePoint In Life Sciences
The life sciences industry has been undergoing a major IT platform shift – and that shift is accelerating. Today, almost every life sciences company uses SharePoint as a general purpose collaboration and content management tool. However, NextDocs’ second annual State of SharePoint in Life Sciences Survey reveals a dramatic expansion in use of Microsoft SharePoint to manage regulated content in validated systems.
The reasons for this shift are clearly evident: content management, compliance and improved collaboration are too critical to the success of life sciences companies to rely on legacy systems. According to the technology research firm IDC, nearly 90 percent of digital content in corporations is unstructured, exposing companies to varied compliance and efficiency issues. The technology and innovation leaders in the life sciences industry are turning to regulated content management solutions, based on open standards, to address this challenge and more comprehensively address compliance, harmonize business processes and promote online collaboration.
