Clinical trial teams are always looking to find ways to implement technologies into their work. While some efforts have revealed shortcomings in existing technologies, teams have also discovered new opportunities to improve these tools and create new best practices.

In decentralized trials, Janey C. Peterson, Paul A. Pirraglia, Martin T. Wells, and Mary E. Charlson wrote in 2012 that home visits during randomized controlled trials helped reduce patient attrition rates. Decentralized trials offer a technology-supported version of home visits. However, to date, finding the right technology to support decentralized trials is still proving to be challenging.

Check out several emerging technologies that could help overcome these challenges, making tech-driven decentralized trials a feasible option in many clinical research settings.
