Aligning Wearable Data Collection Tith Visit Schedules Through EDC Integration
By Kim Rejndrup

Managing patient-reported data from wearable devices in multi-period clinical trials can be challenging, particularly when data collection aligns with specific visit windows. To address this, new platform features leverage electronic data capture (EDC) system integration to provide clear, real-time insights into participant adherence and data collection. The platform defines a visit wear period based on the study protocol, which may flex within a scheduled visit window.
By integrating with the EDC, the system automatically receives daily updates on actual visit dates, allowing it to accurately calculate and display the precise wear periods for each participant. This functionality helps site personnel focus their attention on participants who are currently in an active wear period, simplifying monitoring and reducing the oversight burden during off-period times. This enhanced visibility not only streamlines data collection during the trial but also supports valuable retrospective analysis. Ultimately, this integration facilitates more accurate and efficient data capture from wearables, supporting both prospective data collection and retrospective reporting to refine future digital health technology (DHT) efforts.
