Avance Clinical Welcomes Joe Taouk As Vice President, Global Project Delivery

Avance Clinical, the largest specialist Australian and US CRO, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Joe Taouk as Vice President, Global Project Delivery. Based in Sydney, Joe brings a wealth of experience and a robust track record in clinical research, further strengthening our leadership team as we continue our global expansion.

Joe’s career began at AstraZeneca as a Manufacturing Compounder, producing large volumes of injectables such as epidurals and anesthetics. He transitioned into clinical research at Covance, starting as a Clinical Trial Assistant and swiftly advancing to CRA within six months. Over the years, Joe climbed the professional ladder, taking on roles of increasing seniority in clinical lead, project management, and line management.

The bulk of Joe’s career was spent at Quintiles/IQVIA, where he served as the R&D Head for Australia and New Zealand. In this capacity, he oversaw more than 250 projects and led a team of approximately 350 staff across various departments, including feasibility and start-up, clinical monitoring, quality management, partner sites, and a large FSP team. Most recently, Joe was the Executive Director at PPD, heading clinical operations for Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Singapore.

Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Pharmacology and Biochemistry from the University of Sydney. His academic foundation and extensive industry experience make him an invaluable addition to Avance Clinical.

When asked about his new role, Joe expressed his excitement about joining Avance Clinical, citing positive feedback from former colleagues, the company’s strong brand reputation in the local market, and its impressive growth over recent years. Joe will lead the Australia and New Zealand Project Delivery (PD) team, with a specific focus on the globalization of the PD team and the expansion of the business into the Asia Pacific market, particularly South Korea and Taiwan.
