Q2 2026 brought renewed momentum to gene, cell, and RNA therapies, with eight new global approvals spanning hearing loss, oncology, limb ischemia, influenza/COVID-19 prevention, epidermolysis bullosa, and meniscal injuries. The pipeline also continued to expand, with 4,487 therapies in development, including 2,217 gene therapies, 1,370 RNA therapies, and 940 non-genetically modified cell therapies. A sharp rise in mRNA-engineered CAR-T programs points to growing interest in approaches designed to improve scalability and broaden access. Investment activity strengthened as well, with 118 total transactions and $500.4 million raised across 20 seed or Series A financings.
