Community practices tend to see a diverse set of patients, making them a prime partner for conducting clinical trials. Despite the benefits, research teams in the community may sometimes turn down trials due to limited capacity, especially when those trials involve complex designs and burdensome, manual processes for key tasks like documentation.

To address these challenges, Flatiron partnered with Genentech and Foundation Medicine to design a new, low-interventional prospective study for patients living with advanced lung cancer. The Prospective Clinico-Genomic Study was designed to reflect real-world care patterns and to further alleviate clinical trial operational challenges utilizing a prospective data collection platform that simplified data acquisition.

This study’s pragmatic design allowed research teams to run the study efficiently and achieve the following results:

  • Optimized inclusion/exclusion criteria, enabling 900+ patient enrollments in 18 months
  • Improved data collection and management powered by Flatiron Clinical Pipe™
  • High site satisfaction, demonstrated by 100% of surveyed sites indicating that they would run a similar study in the future
