Building upon our prior work regarding a holistic approach to managing Cell and Gene Therapy (CAGT) Logistics, the authors have embarked on a deeper exploration of the challenges encountered throughout the CAGT asset journey, underscoring the vital role of close collaboration in optimizing the supply chain and enhancing the patient experience in CAGT trials.

CAGTs represent groundbreaking treatments that bring newfound hope to patients facing conditions previously deemed untreatable. As of the second quarter of 2023, the development landscape includes 3,905 gene, cell, and RNA therapies at various stages, from preclinical to preregistration, with over 100 approved therapies already available in this field. The market is poised for remarkable growth, with a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 39.62% between 2021 and 2027.

With the increasing progression of these innovative therapies into human trials, the success, efficiency, and patient experience within clinical trials are intrinsically linked to the seamless coordination and management of complex components. Full-service contract research organizations (CROs) are keenly recognizing the significance of streamlining operations and optimizing supply chain management to elevate the trial experience for patients. Consequently, they are increasingly forming partnerships with specialized logistics companies to achieve this synergy.

Download the white paper below to get a bigger picture as the authors elucidate the primary logistical challenges and associated risks encountered during the CAGT asset journey, emphasizing that these challenges can be effectively addressed through close collaboration and strategic partnerships between CROs and specialist logistics companies.
