What are the additional requirements for the vendor audit?

We at NextDocs go through several audits on a monthly basis and as such, we’ve become very experienced in understanding the additional requirements needed for a cloud-based provider of regulated document management solutions.  The goal of this question, especially when considering the implementation of a cloud-based system, is to instill the understanding that the vendor audit should change when considering an alternative to an on-premises solution.  Some of the additional requirements for an audit center around security, policies and procedures, while others focus on data maintenance and disposal.
