DCT Is Not The Goal, Just The Means
Decentralized clinical trials (DCTs) seek to offer many advantages to clinical trials. They are necessary to decrease patient burden and increase access to clinical trials. Different virtual solutions, complementary to eCOA, have proven their efficacy to make participation in clinical trials less prohibitive and improve participant retention. And patients and sites are ready for decentralized/hybrid clinical trials.
However, there are many challenges, that impose key considerations for the implementation of successful Decentralized Clinical Trials (DCTs): How do we avoid data loss and lack of patient compliance when patients do not come to site? How do we respond to regulatory constraints and compensate the lack of supervision to ensure data quality? How do we tackle technological challenges, and ensure site adoption?
Learn more about the role of DCTs with a deep dive in an oncology case study as well as a pediatric case study, discussing the role of flexibility to support the DCT format.
