But the symptoms of the disease can hinder clinical trial completion, since spinal stenosis can make simple travel arduous. For the prospective trial participant, driving – even riding – to the trial site may be outweighed by the risk of pain and suffering. Patients who opt in can just as quickly opt out, and more than 30% do. Of those dropouts, 38% indicate site visit stress as the determining factor.
