DHL Extends Cryo Express Partnership To Meet Growing CRO Needs
By Cyndi Root
DHL Express announced in a press release that it has expanded its partnership with Cryo Express. The collaboration began in 2008 as a way for DHL to provide contract research organizations (CROs) and clinical investigators cooled specimen transport. DHL extended the partnership due to its growing client base of CROs in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The arrangement will benefit Cryo Express as it extends its services and products to more customers.
David Wilson, EVP of Sales at DHL Express, said, “In addition to large multinationals that are already active across Europe, we believe that smaller, local clinical trials companies looking to partner internationally will also benefit from the convenient, reliable and fast access to dry ice supplies that our partnership guarantees.”
DHL and Cryo Partnership
Cryo Express supplies shipping services and products for a range of temperatures, including frozen (below -20°C), chilled (between +1/+8°C), and ambient (room temperature). Packaging options include dry ice (solid CO2 with a temperature of
-78°C, available in ministicks, sticks, plates, and blocks) and other active cooling materials. The partnership will focus on providing packaging solutions for clinical trial investigators in the European region. Cryo benefits from DHL’s introduction to its customers and DHL will be able to expand its Medical Express services and add larger packaging options.
Benefits For Clinical Investigators
Time is a critical factor when shipping biological specimens, as is keeping the specimens at the appropriate temperature. DHL will ship from clinical sites to laboratories and vice versa. From its headquarters in Bobigny, France, DHL will be routing shipments from seven sites in Europe.
Christophe Boustouller, CEO of Cryo Express said, “With DHL’s main European Hub right on our doorstep, we can ensure the reliable supply of dry ice within the critical timeframes that customers demand.” He added that Cryo expects the partnership to be effective not only in Europe, but in 80 countries across the globe.
