Ergomed's Solutions To The Challenges of Oncology Trials

This case study outlines a pivotal Phase III global clinical trial investigating neoadjuvant immunotherapy for locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (LA SCCHN). The study faced significant challenges, including complex protocol design, slow site activation, and coordination across multidisciplinary departments. Ergomed stepped in to rescue the trial, deploying its Site Management Service and Study Physician (SP) Support model. These services enabled faster site start-up, rigorous protocol training, and frequent in-person visits by SPs to boost recruitment.
Over three years, the trial successfully recruited more than 800 patients, with substantial enrollment gains seen in the final two years. The study’s success was reflected in the publication of eight abstracts at major oncology conferences, including ASCO, ESMO, and ESTRO. Ergomed’s proactive, hands-on approach was credited with overcoming operational challenges and enhancing study performance, highlighting its value in complex oncology trials.
