Four Ways To Strengthen Patient Engagement In Clinical Trials
By Ben Baumann
Engaging patients in clinical trials is crucial for the success of medical research, and recent data from the Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) indicates a growing willingness among individuals to participate. The 2023 CISCRP survey shows a notable increase in participants’ readiness to join clinical studies compared to 2021, with 42 percent “very willing” and 49 percent “somewhat willing” to engage.
Despite this rising interest, the use of electronic and video consent formats has decreased, with most respondents still receiving paper forms. However, electronic consent (eConsent) remains highly regarded for its ease of understanding. This article explores four key strategies that underscore our commitment to empowering patients and enhancing their experience in clinical research.
