In clinical trials, a comparator drug is often required to study the efficacy of a new treatment relative to a drug that is already on the market.
The comparator study is used to compare the effectiveness of the investigational product to the existing drug.9 Additionally, clinical trial sponsors are also required to source and distribute other medications and supplies along with comparators.
