Patient diversity remains a problem in clinical trials. Although FDA-approved medicines serve a diverse population of Americans, participation in clinical trials remains predominantly white and male. 

In this webinar segment, Robin Weinick, SVP & Managing Director, Americas and Global Program Officer for DIA, discusses the barriers that exist to clinical trial enrollment. Those barriers include time off from work, transportation, participation costs, and access to technology. Funding participation in trials would help but engaging with patients where they are is key to building lasting relationships. Working with key opinion leaders in minority communities is also a good way for sponsors to build trust with patients.
