As their research programs grow, health systems and academic institutions often struggle to scale their operational processes to match increased volume. For regulatory management, this can result in a substantial increase in the amount of time and money spent on ensuring compliance. Whether an organization is using paper binders, an internal shared drive, or a vendor solution that may not completely address their needs as they expand, finding the right regulatory management system can provide a significant return on investment. At Inova Health System, the research team set out to improve regulatory efficiency throughout their program, with the goal to slow the need for additional staffing needs as their protocol volume increased.
As part of their eRegulatory initiative, Inova conducted an internal analysis to quantify the efficiency gains expected through the implementation of a new system. In their evaluation of the Advarra eRegulatory Management System (Advarra eReg), the team found that the platform would result in at least a 20% gain in efficiency, surpassing other vendor solutions and easily allowing them to reach their goal to minimize the need for extra regulatory staff.
