A global biopharmaceutical company partnered with Catalent to address inefficiencies and reduce waste within the clinical supply chain for a high-value therapy that faced strong demand but limited supply. Traditional supply approaches risked overproduction, excess inventory, and potential product shortages across multiple studies.

To overcome these challenges, Catalent implemented its FastChain® Demand-Led Supply model, a flexible approach designed to align production and packaging more closely with actual patient demand. Working in close collaboration with the sponsor’s supply chain team, Catalent configured and refined a demand-driven packaging strategy capable of supporting multiple global clinical trials simultaneously.

This model enabled more precise forecasting, reduced waste, and improved responsiveness to changing study requirements. As a result, the program benefited from greater supply chain efficiency, better utilization of limited product, and faster, more reliable access for patients participating in clinical trials.
