Overview

In Curebase’s first international study, Quit Genius, a leading addiction digital clinic based in the United Kingdom was looking to test the preliminary effectiveness of a novel digital therapeutic intervention for smoking cessation. This treatment tool consisted of a digital therapeutic intervention via a smartphone app that delivered cognitive behavioral therapy, one-on-one coaching, craving tools, and more. In order to collect the necessary data over specific periods of time, Quit Genius enlisted Curebase’s decentralized clinical trial model.

Challenge

This study required smokers who met very specific criteria and who wanted to quit; secondary information such as the number of quit attempts was also collected and considered. A wide recruitment net needed to be cast over 5+ locations across the U.K. to screen and inform potential participants. Quit Genius utilized Curebase’s decentralized clinical trial model to reach patients over the age of 18 who smoked at least 5 cigarettes a day in the U.K. through primary care providers and targeted social media advertisements. Due to the need for patient outcome collection over a 4-week period, patients needed to remain engaged with the study
