Pharma Industry's Top 100 Most Influential Figures Recognizes Exco InTouch's CEO, Tim Davis
Exco InTouch, the leading provider of patient engagement and data capture solutions for clinical research and healthcare providers, recently announced that its CEO and founder, Tim Davis, has been named as one of the most influential individuals in the pharmaceutical industry, for 2016.
Tim Davis has over 20 years of experience in the clinical research technology industry. He has been named in the PharmaVOICE 100 list due to the leading contribution that he has made in leveraging the advances in everyday technology to engage patients in clinical trials and healthcare programs.
Tim founded Exco InTouch in 2004 with the initial aim of utilizing mobile text messages to improve the patient’s journey through clinical trials - communicating with patients and reminding them of medication regimens, treatment instructions and site visits. The ultimate goal was to improve the healthcare experience for patients by providing support through everyday technology.
Under Tim’s leadership, Exco InTouch has leveraged advances in technology to continually improve its services, making effective use of smartphones, tablets, internet TVs and games consoles – continually breaking boundaries to bring new concepts to clinical trial participation. Innovations include the use of Xbox Kinect to create movement-based diaries for patients with osteoarthritis, activity trackers to augment primary data with information on patients’ general wellbeing, and capturing of physiological data directly from patients in their own homes through Bluetooth enabled medical devices such as blood glucose meters, spirometers and blood pressure monitors.
As part of his commitment to industry innovation, Tim pioneered the use of BYOD (bring your own device) data capture during clinical trials - for the first time enabling electronic capture of data from large, disperse patient populations in post-approval studies using their own mobile phones, tablets or computers.
Most recently the company has introduced the market to a revolutionary new product suite, Gather, which makes taking part in clinical trials much simpler and more engaging for everyone involved.
Beyond clinical trials, Tim Davis led the organization to develop a world leading digital health platform, which uses a combination of mobile apps, web portals and connected medical and lifestyle devices to help patients better understand and manage their conditions, whilst providing tools to enable healthcare professionals (HCPs) to remotely monitor each patient. This has already been implemented in a number of therapeutic areas including respiratory diseases, diabetes, hemophilia and dermatology.
Tim and Exco InTouch’s achievements have been widely recognized, winning many industry awards. For example, in 2015 Exco InTouch was named in both the Digital Health 100 and PharmaVoice’s Innovation companies, whilst also being included in the Sunday Times Hiscox TechTrack100 – the annual list of the fastest growing privately-owned technology companies in the UK.
