Although it’s common for industry sponsors to initiate clinical trials, it’s not uncommon for a trial to originate within a research site. An IIT is a result of an investigator creating an idea for a study, developing the protocol, and serving as both the sponsor and the investigator for the trial.

While IITs help address critical medical needs, there is much to plan in order for it to run smoothly. Perhaps one of the most important questions we can ask is how do we set these trials up to be successfully compliant?
