Siren Interactive Expands Services With Online Clinical Trial Recruitment Acceleration

Siren Interactive, a digital agency focused on rare disorders, has expanded its service offerings to include online clinical trial recruitment acceleration to help biopharmaceutical companies studying new medicines for rare diseases.

In the US, a disease is considered rare if it affects fewer than 200,000 Americans. There are approximately 7,000 such diseases, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved treatments for about 380 rare disorders, or 5 percent. Becausefinding information about rare disorder diagnosis, treatment and physician specialists is more challenging than it would be for a more common disease, rare disease patients and caregivers rely more heavily on the Internet for disease information and peer support.

"The key challenge for rare disease clinical trials is finding patients. At Siren, we excel at finding rare disease patients and caregivers during the commercialization phase. We're now using this expertise earlier in the process," noted Wendy White, founder and president of Siren Interactive. "MicroTargeting is at the core of our process ofdesigningfocused campaigns that reach patients where they are most likely to be receptive to information about participating in clinical trials."

Recruiting qualified participants for a rare disease therapy clinical trial can be especially challenging, since it's possible that the total global patient population for a rare disorder is only a few thousand patients. White will be delivering a presentation on the value of MicroTargeting in clinical trial recruitment acceleration using social media on Thursday, April 12, at the World Orphan Drug Congress in Washington, DC.
