One of the main components of my job, as Chief Editor, is speaking to my editorial board members and Clinical Leader readers about the study challenges they face. Understanding their challenges helps me to focus my editorial on the areas important to them so as to produce content they find useful and valuable. When discussing challenges, one that is almost always mentioned is study start-up.

Finding sites, recruiting patients, and getting that first patient in the door is one of the most difficult aspects of conducting a trial. Every year trials are delayed or even cancelled because of hurdles faced in the start-up process. And we have all heard the horror stories of sites that under recruit or fail to recruit a single patient. This adds unnecessary delays and costs to your trial.

We hope this eBook will eliminate some of that pain. Learn how technology investments can help with study start-up, how you can ensure a smooth start-up in a gene-therapy trial, and what companies are doing to overcome these challenges. I hope these articles help you to better navigate all of your trial start-ups.
