Released to the public on November 30, 2022, ChatGPT garnered one million users within a brief five days. By the summer of 2023, ChatGPT expanded its availability to over 30 countries, amassing a user base exceeding 100 million, with approximately 15% being Americans. The company behind ChatGPT, openai.com, recorded an impressive one billion visits to its website per month.
In April 2023, McKinsey & Company conducted its annual survey of global executives, involving 1,684 leaders worldwide. The survey revealed that 79% of these leaders had some exposure to generative AI, either within their professional realm or in personal contexts. The report titled "The State of AI in 2023: Generative AI’s Breakout Year" highlighted that less than a year after the debut of many AI tools, one-third of the respondents reported their organizations regularly using generative AI in at least one business function.
In the realm of healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and medical products companies, 85% of leaders and managers had some exposure to AI. Notably, 23% were using AI regularly, either at work or outside, and 44% had experimented with it at least once.
