The Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) has launched an innovative educational outreach initiative through its Journey to Better Health (JTBH) mobile exhibit. This mobile exhibit travels to urban areas such as Baltimore and Philadelphia, aiming to increase awareness of clinical research and underscore the importance of diverse representation in clinical trials, particularly in medically underserved communities. By collaborating with local educators, CISCRP fosters community connections and enhances attendance, using a recreational vehicle equipped with interactive and accessible educational tools.

The exhibit addresses historical mistrust, explains regulatory safeguards, and stresses the significance of inclusive research practices. Surveys surrounding the exhibit demonstrate its effectiveness, showing a marked improvement in participants' understanding of clinical research—from 37% to 66%—and sustained engagement, with over half of the participants discussing the topic further and seeking additional information. The positive feedback underscores the exhibit's success in raising awareness and encouraging participation, with plans to expand to rural underserved areas by 2025. Supported by the FDA's Office of Minority Health and Health Equity, the JTBH mobile exhibit stands as a promising model for enhancing public engagement in clinical research, while acknowledging the contributions of community educators, volunteers, and CISCRP staff.
