The Virtual Waiting Room: How Education and Engagement Increase Clinical Trial Participation

According to a 2021 survey from Pharma Intelligence, only 5% of Americans have consented to participate in a clinical study.1 This is just another statistic backing up what all clinical research partners already know: finding and enrolling patients for studies is incredibly difficult.

As the NIH so clearly summarizes, the main problem we face in clinical trial participation is: “the lack of awareness and education about clinical trials, availability, and how to participate,” and the best way to improve patient attitudes toward trial participation is to improve patient education and engagement.2 But how? Virtual waiting rooms.
