In clinical trials, patients can report how they feel, are functioning, and surviving in Clinical Outcome Assessments. Traditionally offered in a paper format, researchers have recently shifted to collecting COAs electronically using various electronic methods, including handheld devices, tablet devices, or patients’ own devices or computers. As the adoption becomes more widespread, clinical trial stakeholders (including sponsors, CROs, and regulators) have reported that using eCOA in clinical trials can substantially increase study data quality while meeting regulatory requirements.
