Former Acorda Chief Medical Officer Discusses Benefits And Pitfalls Of Outsourcing

Dr. Thomas C. Wessel, M.D., Ph.D., is the former chief medical officer for Acorda Therapeutics. In his role, Wessel reported to CEO and founder, Ron Cohen, M.D., and was responsible for the company’s clinical development and operations, regulatory affairs, biostatistics, data management and drug safety functions. Previously, he served as the senior VP of clinical research of Sepracor Inc., where he led the central nervous system (CNS) and respiratory medicine development teams, including clinical research and operations, clinical pharmacology, drug safety and medical writing and also served as its VP of CNS Development.
