The Rise of Decentralized Clinical Trials
Given the complexities of today’s clinical trial environment, coupled with advances in information technology, the demand for decentralized clinical trials (DCT) has been steadily increasing over the past seven years. Starting in 2020, the number of decentralized trials spiked significantly due, in large part, to the challenges of implementing trials during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic led to many clinical trials being delayed or closed, putting the patients’ continuity of care and treatment at risk, and placing the success of the trial in jeopardy.
