Erie, PA -- Life Science Leader magazine’s chief editor Rob Wright, and Outsourced Pharma and Clinical Leader chief editor Ed Miseta (part of the Life Science Connect group of publications), were recently granted a rare behind the scenes tour of three of Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY) Research Laboratories (LRL) at the company’s global corporate headquarter in Indianapolis on October 2, 2013. The invitation-only tour included a reporter roundtable, attended by Miseta and Wright, as well as reporters from The Wall Street Journal, Scrip Intelligence, Indianapolis Business Journal, Indianapolis Star, and national television station local affiliates for CBS and Fox news. Members of the LRL leadership team explained the company’s strategic approach to drug discovery — Timely Valued Medicines (TVM).

Miseta and Wright participated in a reporter roundtable, led by Jan Lundberg, EVP science and technology, and president of LRL, with additional insights provided by 14 members of the LRL leadership team. After the roundtable, LRL leadership and members of media toured the Alzheimer’s Disease Lab, Advanced Analytics Lab, and the Automated Synthesis Lab (ASL) — the only fully integrated remote access chemistry lab in the world. Past Life Science Leader cover feature Alan Palkowitz, Ph.D., took time out to pose with Wright for a photo.

In addition to touring the labs, both Wright and Miseta were also afforded the opportunity to attend Eli Lilly’s investment community meeting, led by CEO John Lechleiter, Ph.D. and members of the company’s executive leadership team.
