As the clinical research landscape shifts toward patient-centric models, decentralized clinical trials (DCTs) are gaining momentum for their ability to increase access, reduce burden, and promote inclusivity. A top 20 pharmaceutical company partnered with Medidata to pioneer a fully integrated, end-to-end DCT experience in a global Phase III atrial fibrillation study targeting up to 18,000 participants. This trial offered both remote and in-person participation options, emphasizing flexibility and patient choice. Leveraging Medidata’s unified platform—including eConsent, eCOA, myMedidata LIVE, Registries, and Sensor Cloud—patients were empowered to engage from anywhere while maintaining high data quality standards.

To meet ambitious recruitment goals, Medidata’s strategy blended technology and human support. myMedidata Registries, combined with Circuit Clinical’s MD Prescreen service, enabled personalized outreach, efficient pre-screening, and site matching tailored to patient preferences. Patient insights gathered through co-design workshops further shaped the study experience, ensuring accessibility and relevance for underrepresented populations. This approach resulted in a highly engaged, research-ready cohort and streamlined site operations. The collaboration highlights the potential of DCTs to transform trial execution, offering a replicable model for future research.
