Safeguarding Personal Data: myMedidata's Approach To Protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

myMedidata is a secure, patient-centric platform that enables individuals to participate in clinical trials and registries while maintaining lifelong access to their data. A core component of myMedidata is the collection and protection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), which facilitates patient engagement, regulatory compliance, and clinical study integrity.
PII within myMedidata includes identifiable and demographic data that support patient-centered trial participation. This data is utilized for tasks such as eConsent, patient-reported outcomes, virtual study visits, and direct-to-patient shipments. Importantly, patients and caregivers retain full control over their accounts. To ensure data security, myMedidata employs Advanced Encryption Standard 256 (AES-256) for data storage and Transport Layer Security (TLS) v1.2 for secure transmission. A centralized private cloud storage system follows a "walled garden" approach to protect PII while enabling controlled access for study-related functions. Access to PII is strictly regulated, with only authorized personnel permitted under Medidata’s Covered Data Access Policy. myMedidata follows global data privacy regulations and incorporates Privacy by Design principles to proactively safeguard user data. By prioritizing security and transparency, myMedidata upholds patient trust while advancing decentralized clinical research.
