The Evolution And Proliferation Of Decentralized Clinical Trial Technologies
By Edward Triebell and Beth Culver, Medical Research Network

Clinical trials tend to lag behind the innovation adoption curve, but the pace of technology’s proliferation has helped to propel its application to DCTs. It is an exciting element of responsibility to make DCT a standard offering, integrating not only processes, but exploring how new technologies can be integrated into a study to support improved delivery and to provide meaningful connectivity, whether that is a video conference or some type of source data collection.
By combining DCT tools with at-home clinical delivery, we can build more flexible trials, giving patients choices about how they want to participate, creating value for sites and sponsors, and minimizing burdens for all stakeholders. The technology does not have to be cutting-edge or even new — innovative application of existing resources has powerful potential.
