The New Clinical Trials Modernization Act: What You Need To Know

However, a significant challenge persists: the tax treatment of financial stipends provided to offset the time and out-of-pocket expenses of trial participants. These stipends, often classified as "income" and taxed accordingly if they exceed $600, can create additional hardships for participants, particularly those in lower-income brackets. The risk of losing government benefits, such as food stamps, due to this tax reporting limit is a reality many participants face.
